Sandicliffe stands with Ukraine

Following the events in Ukraine, Sandicliffe has launched an emergency appeal to raise money in support of the British Red Cross. Find out more about the Sandicliffe Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

I’m sure we can all agree that recent events in Ukraine have been deeply shocking and saddening. Here at Sandicliffe, we consider ourselves to be a caring and empathetic team that is welcoming to everyone. So, when the news broke about the heartbreaking situation in Ukraine, everyone in our team wanted to try their best to help.

As a result, we launched the Sandicliffe Ukraine Crisis Appeal in support of the British Red Cross Society. The Red Cross has now raised over five million pounds towards helping the innocent civilians in Ukraine. As this humanitarian crisis worsens, they are going to need all of the support they can get. With recent freezing temperatures and ongoing violence, a huge number of people urgently need help right now.

We are incredibly proud of the fundraising efforts that our colleagues have undertaken over the last few weeks in all of our locations. We managed to raise a grand total of £1,193 from donations and Sandicliffe has decided to more than double that figure to bring it up to £2,500. We would like to thank everyone that donated and helped us to reach this fantastic figure!

Across our dealerships, there were a variety of initiatives to raise money and awareness for the Ukraine Crisis Appeal. All of our employees dressed in yellow and blue colours to show their support for the Ukrainian people, and our Nottingham Nissan dealership went the extra mile by selling freshly baked cakes. The cakes went down a treat and we would like to thank each member of our team for their fantastic effort!

We would also like to give a special thank you to Luke Gillborne of Sandicliffe Leicester who volunteered to raise awareness by bravely shaving his head! Watching the spectacle was the highlight of the week for many and, as a result, the event raised an incredible amount of awareness and donation. We hope the weather picks up over the next few weeks so you don’t feel the breeze too badly!

On their Just Giving page, the Red Cross wrote: “So far, Red Cross teams in Ukraine have distributed over 90,000 food and hygiene parcels and provided food, warm clothes, and other aid to around 7,000 people sheltering in metro stations in Kyiv. First aid training has also been delivered to over 12,000 people taking cover in metro stations and bomb shelters, so they have the skills to treat their loved ones if needed.”

Since this campaign began, Red Cross teams have been working around the clock to support those in need in Ukraine, its bordering countries and other countries that could potentially be affected by the crisis in the future. Their work in bordering countries is also offering medical care, food, aid and shelter to refugees arriving from Ukraine.

The money that has been raised so far will be able to do a wonderful amount of good, but the Ukraine Crisis Appeal is not over yet. The British Red Cross Society Just Giving Page is still live, allowing you to make a donation at your convenience. No matter how big or small, your donation can help the Red Cross continue to support people suffering from the personal, psychological and emotional trauma of war.
