The highly rewarding, fun-to-drive new Nissan Qashqai comes with 2 new powertrains and they’re both electrified. What does that mean for you? Greater efficiency, improved refinement and more driving pleasure.

The first is a ‘flexible and efficient’ 1.3-litre petrol engine with mild hybrid technology – the first time this type of tech has been used for Nissan. By using mild-hybrid technology in the 2021 Nissan Qashqai, the crossover is able to reduce its CO2 emissions and offer an improved fuel economy, which as Marco Fioravanti, VP Product Planning, Nissan EU, puts - isn’t just good for the planet but even better for your wallet.

The previously used 1.3-litre engine has been extensively updated and adapted to work with mild hybrid technology, in turn enabling the system to run on harvested braking technology such as regenerative braking.New Nissan Qashqai 2021 cruising shot

This means your 2021 Nissan Qashqai will be able to recover energy usually lost during acceleration and braking and use it for things like powering onboard electronics (usually powered by fuel). This saves on fuel costs and ding ding ding, the 2021 Nissan Qashqai is ‘good for the planet but even better for your wallet.’

The 1.3-litre is available as a 138hp/240Nm and 156hp/260Nm either as a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. The same engine when mated to an Xtronic gearbox generates 156hp/270Nm.New Nissan Qashqai 2021 exterior details

The car is also available with an e-Power setup, which uses a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol with an electric motor to churn out 187hp/330Nm.

The second powertrain which will be launched in the near future is even more remarkable as it uses Nissan’s unique and innovative e-POWER technology.

And what’s so good about it? Well, Nissan’s new e-POWER technology enables the wheels of your 2021 Qashqai to be driven by the electric motor itself, not an internal combustion engine. So you get the same instant response as an electric car but don’t have to worry about electric range or recharging your Qashqai as the system also uses a petrol ‘range extender’. Simply fill up with fuel as and when you need to.New Nissan Qashqai 2021 powertrains explained

Marco said: “We are really excited by the introduction of this new technology. It’s a first for Europe. It’s unique to Nissan and our customers are really going to enjoy it.”

In short, the new e-POWER system from Nissan lets you experience instant acceleration, lots of torque and excellent efficiency despite not being a fully electric vehicle.

On the new e-POWER technology, Marco also added: “This is a perfect transition into an EV driving experience for crossover drivers.”

We love to see what boundaries can be pushed and manipulated when it comes to vehicle engineering and the e-POWER has certainly impressed.

Now we know what’s under the bonnet, let’s talk about what’s on the outside. The new Nissan Qashqai 2021 is immediately eye-catching with sharper, more muscular and angular lines.New Nissan Qashqai 2021 parked

The exterior of the 2021 Nissan Qashqai looks grown-up and your eyes are immediately drawn to its enhanced body stance and bolder shoulder line.

Just like the Nissan Juke, the two-tone paint job on the Nissan Qashqai 2021 gives the illusion of a sloping rear end and with the blacking out of the rear panel makes the All-New Qashqai sleeker and sportier.

Also new to the rear is the nameplate lettering of QASHQAI which has been moved to the centre of the boot for a much more modernised look.

For the first time, the All-New 2021 Nissan Qashqai will sit on 20-inch wheels raising ride height and dropping jaws. The wheels look exceptional on the Qashqai and beef it up making it look like a luxury SUV. Quite frankly, dazzling.New Nissan Qashqai 2021 parked rear exterior

Moving on to the front and you have new boomerang advanced headlights now thinner and more akin to the rear lights. They come with intelligent matrix technology so unlike the wheels, these won’t dazzle you. Front indicators are stylishly incorporated. New Nissan Qashqai 2021 exterior front

Inside the All-New Qashqai is a wealth of luxury comforts as the interior is upgraded with new features to explore. Everything is enhanced. Everything is new.New Nissan Qashqai 2021 interior

The overall fit and finish of the 2021 Nissan Qashqai interior is carefully articulated with premium materials sweeping the Qashqai’s cabin. For example, the napa leather option for your seats and the dash takes 25 days to produce -fancy.New Nissan Qashqai 2021 leather seats

Front massage seats are yours to enjoy at the touch of a button and have been added to symbolise the true Qashqai experience – luxury comfort at an affordable price.New Nissan Qashqai 2021 massage seat controls

The centre console along with other controls in the front have been simplified from its predecessor to minimise distraction and maximise ease. And a new gear selector has been refined for automatic models.

But perhaps the most impressive feature of the 2021 Nissan Qashqai’s interior is its capability of increasing space inside, without added inches to the outside.

Thanks to a revised longer wheelbase, the 2021 Qashqai offers improved roominess, more knee room for rear passengers and more shoulder space for driver and passenger with little change to the dimensions of the exterior.

Marco Fioravanti said: “We know our customers like the compact size of the Qashqai so we’ve increased cabin roominess without the need to expand on the exterior.”

This means the 2021 Nissan Qashqai is just as convenient on narrows streets and in tight parking spaces as its 2nd gen brother, but far bigger on the inside.

Thanks to simple smartphone connectivity and advanced infotainment technology, everybody who rides in the 2021 Qashqai is guaranteed a good time. Not only do you have in-car WiFi at your fingertips, but multiple USB charging points can help keep passengers, especially the little ones, occupied and entertained.

New Nissan Qashqai 2021 wireless charging

We’ve said this phrase a fair few times now which just goes to show the extent of upgrades in the new Nissan Qashqai 2021, but for the first time on the Qashqai, a new and convenient phone storage compartment has been added to the centre console which emits 15 watts of wireless charging for your smartphone – amongst the most powerful in the crossover segment.

You also get the beloved NissanConnect display screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity is also available.

New Nissan Qashqai 2021 infotainment system

If you choose not to use your smartphone navigation, your NissanConnect infotainment system can easily provide 3D maps, live traffic updates, street view visuals and over-the-air updates, ensuring your infotainment system is always operating at its best.

Download the NissanConnect Services app and enjoy remote conveniences such as locking and unlocking your car doors from your mobile phone.

Not only is the cabin space bigger but the boot space of the 2021 Nissan Qashqai has also increased by an additional 74 litres. That takes the new boot space capacity for the All-New Nissan Qashqai to 504 litres – enough room for city shopping and adventures beyond.New Nissan Qashqai 2021 boot space

What’s more, the 2021 Nissan Qashqai now comes with rear doors that open at a 90-degree angle for easier access – especially ideal for loading and unloading child seats, travel kennels for pets and more.

Another notable quote from Marco about the new Nissan Qashqai: “It retains everything the customer already loves about the Qashqai but we have elevated the design, the practicality and the onboard ambiance.”

When it comes to driving technology, the new Nissan Qashqai focuses on your true needs. For that reason, Nissan’s Intelligent Cruise Control driver assistance technology will come as standard on every grade of the new Qashqai.

For further peace of mind, the next generation of Nissan ProPILOT driver assistance is offered on the 2021 Nissan Qashqai and thanks to an advanced integrated navigation system, ProPILOT can now adjust your car speed according to speed limits as well as add intricate precision and comfort to a multitude of driving scenarios. This is especially beneficial in stressful motorway traffic or lengthier journeys.

Other safety features include Nissan Intelligent Forward Emergency Braking which uses a predictive function to scan the road ahead of your Qashqai to prevent any collision.

Interestingly, the body of the new Nissan Qashqai utilises an increased use of lightweight materials such as aluminium, making the overall exterior of the new Qashqai 2021 stiffer but lighter. This not only improves refinement, ride comfort, driving response and efficiency, but it also increases your security in the unlikely event of an accident.

Andrew Humberstone, Nissan Motors GB Managing Director, introduced the global debut with some inspiring words about the last 12 months at Nissan.

He said: “We’ve weathered an unprecedented storm in our industry – Covid-19 and consumer uncertainty of Brexit have all presented a massive challenge.”

And on the topic of electrification, he mentioned how Nissan was able to supply free rechargeable power packs for mobile phones to NHS and front-line workers to keep them going through such a tough phase.

Despite the global pandemic that took the world by surprise, Nissan Motors surpassed 1 million crossover vehicles in the UK and became \'the first brand by a country-mile to do so.’

Of course, this was a huge testament to the Nissan Qashqai and how it managed to maintain top spot in the crossover segment, outselling its younger rivals with no trouble.

Now 14 years later since its world debut and after an unstoppable journey (as Marco Fioravanti, VP Product Planning, Nissan EU put), the All-New 2021 Nissan Qashqai is here.

After selling a record high of more than 3 million Qashqai models across Europe and the UK, the Nissan Qashqai has become an icon and undoubtedly the most popular crossover for families and young professionals.

Before the grand reveal Marco left us saying this: “With this new generation, we are confident even more customers will join and the Nissan world.”

And after witnessing its striking design, advanced electrified powertrains and intuitive tech, we\'re confident you will too.
