Meet Mazda's first PHEV, the Mazda CX-60

The Mazda CX-60 is here to electrify your SUV driving and offer you a range of incredible new features. Mazda’s first-ever plug-in hybrid (PHEV) is finally here, and it has been more than worth the wait. The Mazda CX-5 has already made a big impact on SUV drivers and the CX-60 will sit above it in the range.

If you’ve ever driven, or travelled in, a Mazda CX-5, you will understand how exciting the idea of a new and improved Mazda SUV actually is. This plug-in hybrid electric vehicle has been designed to stand amongst the most famous PHEV SUVs, like the Ford Kuga. With several electric vehicles already available, Mazda is putting their faith in an electrified future.

The CX-60 really delivers on that faith. With a 0-62 mph time of just 5.8 seconds, this SUV can really move. This is down to a revolutionary drivetrain that is made from a 100kW electric motor and a powerful 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. This combination offers 323bhp and 369ft/lbs of torque, while significantly lowering your environmental impact.

This incredible specification makes this vehicle one of the most powerful in the entire Mazda range. It also puts it at the very top of the Mazda electric vehicle collection, ahead of the Mazda2 and Mazda CX-30. With so much power, the CX-60 truly demonstrates the power of electricity. If you are a fan of SUVs, Mazda’s or PHEVs, this Mazda is a vehicle for you.

The all-new Mazda CX-60 arrives in Sandicliffe Mazda dealerships in the Autumn of 2022. Mazda has not confirmed an exact date yet, so be sure to check back regularly for updates. We wouldn’t want you to miss out on being one of the first to own a CX-60. As the first PHEV in the Mazda collection, there are bound to be lots of pre-orders for this fantastic car.

The environmental credentials of the new Mazda CX-60 are sure to be one of the most attractive features for many drivers, with CO2 emissions sitting as low as 33g/km. This is a particularly delightful figure if you’re looking to save money, as it puts you in the very lowest bracket for vehicle road tax payments.

If you’re an eco-conscious driver who needs a vehicle that still packs a punch, the CX-60 is an excellent choice for you. This PHEV sends its power to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. It also offers you an impressive 188 mpg. However, trips to the pump will be significantly reduced by the hybrid technology in the CX-60.

Even more impressive, the Mazda CX-60 can drive for up to 42 miles with purely electric power alone. This is due to the fantastic 17.8 kWh battery pack that gives you more than enough juice for day-to-day driving. As the battery is not the sole source of power for the vehicle, you will also enjoy very fast charging speeds.

The PHEV Mazda CX-60 is not the only exciting announcement Mazda has regarding its SUV range. If you like the idea of owning a Mazda SUV but aren’t ready to make the jump to PHEV driving, Mazda has you covered. Following the PHEV CX-60 will be a 3.0-litre petrol version as well as a 3.3-litre diesel equivalent of the vehicle.

While Mazda has not yet announced the release date and exact specification of these vehicles, we know they will be a hit with SUV drivers. What we ‌also know for sure is that they will share the same eight-speed automatic gearbox and a four-wheel-drive system that is seen in the PHEV CX-60.

Both of these cars will also come with a 48-volt mild-hybrid battery to assist your driving and enhance your efficiency. And, as these mild hybrids will charge their battery through regenerative braking, you will never have to plug in to enjoy your full driving range. This makes them the perfect first step into the world of electrified driving.

Mazda has also revealed that it will launch the Mazda CX-80 within the next couple of years. The CX-80 will be a seven-seat version of the CX-60, with an extended wheelbase and enough space for even the biggest families. With so many exciting new releases in the pipeline, we’re sure we’ll be seeing lots of SUV drivers at our Mazda dealerships in the near future!
