The MX-30 was first revealed in October where we saw it take on a more angular stance than the brand's coupe-crossover CX-30 model. With a squarer shoulder line at the top front of the roof and boxy wheel arches, the MX-30 gave us strong and sophisticated vibes. Unveiled: New Mazda MX-30 EV

This aggressive styling was refreshing to see within the brand's line-up and gives you an insight into the diversity of Mazda's Kodo: Soul of Motion design. But before we get into that, you may want to know that one of the most talked-about features of the MX-30 thus far has been the resurrection of freestyle doors as were seen on the Mazda RX-8 back in 2010.

Showstopping feature: MX-30 Freestyle Doors

The generous 82-degree opening is both eye-catching and practical and provides you with an easily accessible entry for both front and rear seating.

Mazda has branded the all-new electric MX-30 as "the SUV alternative for people ahead of the times". The pure electric model uses a 35.5kWh battery and promises a driving range of at least 200km (125 miles) completely emission-free. 

By choosing a lighter battery weight, Mazda engineers achieve a near 50/50 weight distribution for a remarkably linear drive. Specially designed e-Skyactiv Vehicle Architecture and G-Vectoring Control Plus further enhance precision and responsiveness in the all-new electric Mazda.

All-New Pure Electric Mazda MX-30

The Mazda MX-30 will come with Mode 2 and Mode 3 charging settings, meaning you will be able to charge your MX-30 via standard mains electricity (Mode 2) as well as connecting it to a wall box (Mode 3). You will also benefit from AC and DC settings which enable both at-home or on-the-go charging.

To put things into perspective, Mazda say you can get up to 80% charge within 30-40 minutes on a 50kW DC charger. Use a 22kW AC wall box charging station and you get can back on the road with full charge within 4.5 hours.

Mazda MX-30 interior uses recycled materials

But being electric isn't the only thing that makes the Mazda MX-30 sustainable. The interior of the pure electric crossover utilises rich, high-quality recycled materials to produce an atmosphere never felt before.

Mazda Takumi craftspeople have focussed on creating an environment of natural-feeling: "overall the Mazda MX-30 is characterised by high recyclability, confidently cloaked in modern design".

Take for example the hand-crafted cork surfaces within the floating centre console which has been crafted to be symbolic of Mazda's iconic Jinba Ittai philosophy - that car and driver are one and work in perfect harmony.
