Electrify the World with Nissan

When you think of companies working hard to achieve sustainability, and reduce their emissions and that of the country they’re operating in, you’d be forgiven if you didn’t straight away think of any of the well-known car manufacturers Although most companies are now creating electric cars and alternative solutions to typical fuel, there’s one that stands out more than most. That car manufacturer? Nissan. Yes, you heard it right, Nissan are on a mission to electrify the world to create a more sustainable, less polluted planet.

So what does “electrify the world really mean?” Nissan say; “electrify the world is a movement dedicated to harnessing conversations around sustainable energy, electric mobility and electric living.” But what does that mean in the real world? Quite simply it means that Nissan are creating a movement that aims t show a variety of people in a variety of industries that sustainable fuels are future.

To start the conversation, Nissan opened a pop up café where customers would have to pedal to generate electricity and gain a free coffee, you can have a look at the video and hear from some of the founders of the movement here:


Nissan then took the ICE (internal combustion engine) out of the humble ice crea van to create a zero emission concept on Clean Air Day in the UK! Partnering with Mackie’s of Scotland, an ice cream maker who power their own dairy farm with wind and solar energy! This product really embodied Nissan’s “Electrify the World” campaign and showed that it’s possible to remove carbon emissions even in unexpected industries!

But it’s not all events and TV appearances! Nissan really put their money where their mouth is with their range of electric vehicles, that we’ll talk about here.

The Nissan LEAF is iconic, and it’s a regular on the streets across the UK, no matter what city you’re in. The humble LEAF has a well-deserved reputation for being reliable as well as good on battery. Where larger brands such as Audi, Tesla and BMW cater towards the customer with a larger budget, the Nissan LEAF comes in at around £25k compared to Tesla’s £40k, making electric vehicle ownership accessible for all budgets.

The Nissan LEAF is now in it’s second generation and Nissan have really made some good improvements on the already market leading EV. Not only is it faster and more spacious inside it’s capable of much longer distances between charges.

You’d be forgiven for thinking the LEAF is all about the electric engine, but the Nissan LEAF interior doesn’t struggle to keep up with it’s more expensive competitors. A glance inside the cabin will show off a shiny infotainment system with Nissan’s market leading ProPilot cruise control.

In terms of battery, the Nissan LEAF is out pacing more expensive models. For your everyday driving, the Nissan LEAF will give you around 168 miles per charge on the 150h LEAF, but Nissan claim the LEAF will offer 258 miles in pure City use.

The LEAF e+ adds even more capacity. It’s powered by a 62kWh battery pack and features a 217hp motor. It gives more pulling power, better rapid acceleration and more range between recharges and claims a very impressive 239 miles which is certainly market leading.

It’s not just the school run and the commute that have benefitted from Nissan’s mission to “Electrify the World,” the humble white van as well as the people carrier has also been given the electric makeover. Customers can choose between the Nissan e-NV200 van or the Nissan e-NV200 Combi.

It’s clear that Nissan mean business with their EV range, and their mission to “Electrify the World” is certainly one that other car manufacturers should be sitting up and taking note of! We definitely can’t wait to see what electric cars Nissan has in mind for the future.
