The star of one of the BBCs most loved dramas was a very special guest at Sandicliffe this week as he picked up the keys to his brand new Nissan X-Trail. Dean Andrews, who played DS Ray Carling in both Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes, collected his brand new SUV crossover from Europe\'s biggest Nissan dealership as part of a sponsorship deal.
The Rotherham-born actor has starred in some of TV\'s most popular shows over recent years. As well as his appearances alongside Keeley Hawes and Philip Glenister in the BBC police drama Ashes to Ashes he has also appeared in BAFTA winning dramas Last Tango in Halifax and Buried. He has also featured in Waterloo Road, Midsomer Murders, Being Eileen, The Street and Shameless.
Dean said: “While recording Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes I had the privilege to be around some pretty special cars. Like many of those from that era, the Nissan X-Trail is stylish and you just want to be seen in it. It’s so comfortable, spacious and most importantly, safe to drive.
“But it’s also got so many hi-tech gadgets – a world away from the cars of the 1970s and 80s that Ray Carling was used to.”
The actor, who starred alongside David Tennant and Dougray Scott in the BBC film United, collected his Nissan X-Trail from Sandicliffe\'s new Nissan dealership on Abbeyfield Road. The centre is Europe\'s largest Nissan dealership and boasts a huge choice of new and used cars over four floors including the Qashqai - What Car? magazine\'s 2014 Car of the Year and the X-Trail, the What Car? 2014 Reader Award Car of the Year.
Nigel Falkiner, Head of Marketing for the East Midlands-based Sandicliffe Motor Group Nissan, said: “Myself and Dean have been good friends for years. As soon as I found out he also did voice-over work, I snapped him up to voice all our radio commercials.
