Following on from its release earlier this month, the All-New Mazda3 has undergone a series of examinations and crash tests designed and carried out by Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) to test its safety when driving it in the complexity of the real world. The Euro NCAP regularly assesses new vehicles to help buyers compare and identify car safety ratings including how well it would do in real-life accident scenarios and the impact of such collisions to the occupants inside the vehicle. Euro NCAP will then rate the car out of 5 stars in addition to writing up a detailed report on the various car crash tests carried out. So, let’s see how the All-New Mazda3 performed…

Mazda3 NCAP Safety report summary

The All-New Mazda3 has earned the highest Euro NCAP 5-star safety rating making it one of the safest cars in the UK. Highlights include a near-perfect Adult Occupant score of 98 percent where dummy readings demonstrated the car’s ability to protect all critical body regions of both driver and passenger in the event of a front and side pole collision. In the event of a rear-end collision, Euro NCAP’s geometric assessment of front and rear seats were able to identify a high level of whiplash protection (1.8/2.0).

Pedestrian & Cyclist Protection

In terms of the protection of vulnerable road users, the Mazda3 scored a high 81 percent. This included the Mazda3 detecting pedestrians and cyclists and utilising the AEB system to prevent collisions. The results demonstrated a good level of recognition for pedestrians though cyclists proved more challenging to detect on road and scored as adequate.
