The all-new Ford Kuga was revealed last week at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona where Ford showcased their new technology trends. The new SUV will take on rivals with its new look and eco-friendly credentials.
Features will be revealed more in depth at this year’s Geneva Motor Show that takes place next week. For now we know that the all-new Kuga receives refined, classier styling with a new engine and updated technology. We take a closer look at the greener SUV on its way later this year.
The exterior has some of the most noticeable new features; a two-bar grille, enhanced LED daytime running lights, all-new front bumpers and re-positioned fog lamps. As well as the rear receiving new tail-lights and an improved boot lid. There is also a choice of 17, 18 or 19” wheels and a brand new copper colour option to choose from. The design is more reflective of the 2008 original, which fans will be pleased to know.
The interior will feature a more ergonomic dashboard, as well as a larger display screen and an electronic parking brake. The model will also feature steering-wheel mounted paddles, perpendicular park-assist and Adaptive Front Lighting. Adaptive Front Lighting signals the road ahead adapting the lighting style to coincide with the speed, steering angle and distance from other cars. Intelligent Four Wheel Drive, Cross Traffic Alert and Active City Stop will also enhance the Kuga’s safety features. You can also choose to have a hands-free tailgate and Ford Intelligent All Wheel Drive.
As for engines there will be an 118bhp 1.5 litre diesel that will emit 115km/CO2 emissions and have an output of 64.2mpg. 148bhp and 178bhp 2.0 TDCI units will also be available as well as two 1.5 litre petrol options.
The Kuga will also feature a first for Ford. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will come as standard as part of Ford SYNC 3. The connectivity system features a 8-inch screen that has been updated with new features and a much quicker performance. A highlight of SYNC 3 is the more simplistic voice-commands that your system will understand. For example by stating “I need a coffee” or “I need petrol” SYNC 3 will interpret this and will guide you to the nearest coffee shop or petrol station. The interface also has easier to operate buttons and enables you to select things by pinch and swipe actions.
The all-new Ford Kuga will be one of five new Ford SUV’s that are due to be released in the next three years. These also include updated versions of already existing Ford SUV models. It is due to go on sale by the end of this year. Check back regularly and keep an eye out for updates via our blog and social media. Also why not check out what the current Ford Kuga has to offer?
