  • Enhanced Rate Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP)
  • War Pensioner's Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

There's no age limit on the scheme and you have to have at least 12 months remaining on your award. If you are unsure about your eligibility please contact a Motability Specialist at your local Sandicliffe branch who will be happy to advise you further.

Do I need a Driving License?

UK Driving Licence for Motability Car Scheme

To be eligible for the Motability scheme you do not need to hold a driving licence. If you receive an allowance you can use this to put towards a vehicle which a carer or family member can drive. You also do not have to be old enough to drive or hold a driving licence. Two nominated drivers for the car can be chosen for free, after this any other nominated drivers will incur a charge. There are a few eligibility clauses for your chosen named driver/s, which will depend on the insurance group of your chosen vehicle, the age of the driver – you may only have one named driver under the age of 21, and the driving penalties or criminal records the nominated driver may hold.

If you have a child aged three years or older who is eligible to claim a disability allowance you are entitled to apply for the Motability scheme on their behalf.
