Over recent years, Mazda has established itself as one of the most trusted and innovative car designers in the world. Sales of Mazda models in the UK have risen sharply over recent months following the launch of award-winning cars including the Mazda 3 and Mazda 6.

Over the next few months Mazda is introducing a range of new models which will take the Japanese manufacturer to the next level in terms of quality and style. With several exciting new cars on the way, we look at what Mazda has in store for us over the next six months. Keep reading to find out more.

New MX-5 to mark 25th anniversary of iconic roadster

Since its launch a quarter of a century ago, Mazda has sold almost a million of its award-winning MX-5 models. The two-seater is the world’s favourite roadster and Mazda is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the MX-5 by launching a new model in early 2015.

The MX-5 has developed a reputation for being one of the most exciting and fun cars on the road, and this model is no exception. Shorter, lower and lighter than the current edition the new MX-5 combines brand new styling with the latest technology and a brilliant driving experience.

The new model is expected to come with a choice of Mazda’s 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre petrol engines which feature the manufacturer’s latest SKYACTIV technology. These engines will develop around 130bhp and 165bhp respectively and will be linked to a six-speed gearbox.

Auto Express said the new MX-5 boasted a ‘beautifully finished and driver-focused cabin’ and the brand new model is expected to land in Sandicliffe dealerships in early 2015.

New Mazda 2 set to arrive in spring 2015

The existing Mazda 2 is a previous World Car of the Year winner and the hotly anticipated new edition lands in spring 2015. Slightly bigger that the previous model, the new Mazda 2 delivers more head and leg room while being highly economical and packed full of the latest technology.

The new Mazda 2 employs the manufacturer’s signature ‘Kodo’ design language and it inherits a similar grille and flowing lines as seen on the recent Mazda 3 and Mazda 6.

The Mazda 2 will be offered with a choice of 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol or diesel motors. The diesel version will be the most efficient model and you can expect CO2 emissions of less than 90g/km and an official fuel economy average of more than 70mpg.

Inside the cabin you get a large screen mounted high up in the centre of the fascia and this means that you can operate the car’s features with either a touch-screen interface or via a rotary controller mounted low down between the front seats.

Top Gear called the new Mazda 2 ‘a smart looking thing’ saying that it was ‘fun to drive’ and offered ‘good looks and good value for money’.

Award-winning Mazda 6 to get new look

Since its launch in 2013 the new Mazda 6 has gained plenty of plaudits. CarBuyer said that ‘the Mazda 6 is a front-runner in the family-car class thanks to its sleek design, powerful yet efficient engines, generous kit and sporty handling’ while Auto Express awarded the model its Family Car of the Year prize in both 2013 and 2014.

What Car? called the Mazda 6 an ‘efficient, spacious family car that's a worthy alternative to the Mondeo’ while The Sun said the new hatchback and estate models ‘both look tremendous’.

With class-leading fuel economy - as high as 67.3mpg and emissions as low as 108g/km – the Mazda 6 is set to get even better in 2015 when a redesigned exterior make the new model more attractive than ever.

Mazda leading the way in well-designed, premium cars

Drivers have been turning to Mazda in huge numbers over recent years. Mazda sales in the UK soared by 27.14 percent in the first half of the year – almost three times the industry average - with almost 20,000 cars sold.

Mazda has also been racking up the awards. One of the most prestigious prizes was awarded by consumer group Which? who named Mazda Best Car Manufacturer at their 2014 awards ceremony.

Mazda was one of 11 winners, fighting off tough competition from Audi, BMW, Honda and Skoda to once again claim the crown it first won in 2008.

Which? magazine said: “Mazda is a worthy winner with more than two thirds of its cars rated as best buys and scored well with owners for reliability and satisfaction. The Mazda3 offers a winning combination of fuel economy, style and driving enjoyment. The Mazda 6, launched in 2013, continues to impress us with a premium car feel at a non-premium price.”
