We would like to say that summer is in full swing but that isn’t strictly true. However if the sun does make an appearance there are plenty of events in Nottingham to keep you happy. Whether you are looking for family outings, a perfect date night or just something a little bit different. We take a closer look at summer events in Nottingham!
Malt Cross Heritage Tours - Tuesday – Friday 2pm & Saturday 12pm & 2pm
The Malt Cross located on St. James’s Street is not only a great pub that offers excellent beers, ales and food. It is also one of the last Victorian Music Halls in Britain that still plays host to live acts today! Since the refurbishment a year ago the Malt Cross is also now home to the Henderson Gallery, a hub for creative minds.
Not only will you enjoy the grand scale of the magnificent building, the Malt Cross Heritage Tour also takes you underground to explore the geology of the site. Daily tours usually last up to an hour maximum and cost just £3.
Outdoor Theatre – Nottingham Castle, Newstead Abbey & Wollaton Hall
You don’t have to be a regular theatre goer to enjoy some of the great outdoor performances taking place across the city. Some of the plays taking place are Macbeth at the historic Nottingham Castle, & Much Ado About Nothing at the grand Newstead Abbey. There are 17 performances altogether including Ratburger, ideal for entertaining the little ones! So grab your shades…or umbrella and enjoy something different outdoors!

Splendour Festival 2016 - Wollaton Park - 23rd July 11:00 – 23:30
The city’s annual music festival is back with a bang! This year’s line-up includes legendary bands The Human League & UB40 as well as chart-topper Jess Glynne headlining! There are many other loved artists; Jamie Lawson, The Darkness and The Fratellis among others!
A great day out full of music from global stars and home-grown talent held in the picturesque grounds of Wollaton Hall. Ticket prices start from £45 for an adult or £35 with a CityCard discount. 11-17 year olds with a CityCard are only £20. To find out more look at Experience Nottingham site.
Summernights Film Festival - Wollaton Hall - August Bank Holiday
What better way to enjoy summer than sat outside in a beautiful setting watching a film? It may not be an American drive-in but is the next best thing! With over four flicks to choose from over the August bank holiday, you are spoilt for choice! Early bird tickets are just £11 with standard price at £13. All films start at 7:00pm and you can book tickets online for the Summer Nights Festival.

Nottingham Beach - Old Market Square - 22nd July – 1st September
Nottingham Riviera aka Nottingham Beach makes its return to the Old Market Square from the 22nd July. Rides, food, live music and beach favourites as well as the ‘sandy beach’ will transform the square. The bar will also be serving beers and cocktails; perfect for a post-work wind down!
Riverside Festival - Trent Bridge - 6th – 7th August
The Riverside Festival is one of Nottingham’s biggest summer events. Rides, entertainment and a stunning firework display over the River Trent are just some of the highlights. A whole weekend of free family fun including the Dragon Boat and annual Duck Race!
