On Your Marks! Sandicliffe Sponsor Bruntingthorpe EventTweet
Sandicliffe are the main sponsor of On Your Marks Weekend at Bruntinghthorpe, join us for car and aviation displays, super cars and more, all in aid of charity!
We are proud to announce that we are sponsoring On Your Marks 2017 at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, Leicester on the 16th – 17th September. The event was set up over fifteen years ago when Asda driver Mark Higginbottom was sadly diagnosed with Lymphatic cancer. Unfortunately Mark passed away before the event but £7,500 was raised for Mark’s family. Since then the event has grown whilst paying tribute to Mark and raising vital funds for children’s cancer related charities.
Over £483,000 has been raised over the years attracting 20,000 – 30,000 people over the weekend’s event! This year’s main charities that are being supported are Wishes 4 Kids, Cancer Research and Help for Heroes. There will also be a local community fund which will be intended for local residents and community groups to help secure funding for local community initiatives.
John Forde, one of the two ASDA employees who conceived and organised all 16 previous On Your Marks events, has been retained by Bruntingthorpe as a consultant. He says major sponsorship from Sandicliffe Ford will bring a new dimension to the event. “They have been involved in previous events. But this year they are the headline sponsor.”
As the main sponsor, Ford’s popular mainstream models and light commercials will be on display throughout the event. Sandicliffe will be displaying a rare and exotic Ford GT40, the exciting new Mustang – now available with right-hand-drive for the first time – together with a 1956 Classic Mustang and even an original Model T, the car that kick-started the worldwide Ford automotive dynasty. The Ford RS Owners’ Club will also be supporting the event whose members will be displaying some of the most sought-after RS sports and competition cars produced by Ford.
This year’s event will also see a return of the supercars in which fast passenger rides can be bought. The Paul Swift stunt team, karts, 4x4s, HGVs and a fairground for the younger children will all be a part of the event. Fast-run displays along Bruntingthorpe’s two-mile runway by some of the jet aircraft from the Cold War collection will also be a highlight, along with helicopter rides!
The fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down either with the fantastic Queen tribute band; Flash taking to the stage with a bar for people to purchase drinks and food. Tickets are sold separately for the evening event via the On Your Marks site.
As well as nearby hotels, camping will also be available on site for the Friday and Saturday nights with all pricing on the ticketing section of the site. So why not take advantage and make a whole weekend of it!
