2016 is already shaping up to be a strong year for Ford in the UK. With new car releases due for launch and pioneering advancements in Ford Technology, the nation’s most trusted car manufacturer
is giving us plenty of reasons to get excited about their range in the New Year.
As an approved dealer of Ford vehicles, we share with you our most anticipated Ford cars, which will be available at our dealerships in 2016.
Third-gen Ford Focus RS
The order books for the third-generation Ford Focus RS opened in 2015, but Spring 2016 is when first deliveries of the super-hot hatch will be made. In the UK the Focus RS has received 1500 deposits already, and with great reason. If you aren’t one of the lucky thousand to have already secured your Ford Focus RS, here’s a recap of the specs:
• 2.3-litre four-cylinder Ecoboost engine (with 10% more power than the Ford Mustang
• Engine produces 345bhp
• Six-speed manual gearbox, shortened for faster, more accurate gear changing
• 324lb ft. of torque available from 2000rpm to 4500rpm
• 347lb ft of torque available for up to 15 seconds (over-boost acceleration)
• 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds
With prices starting at £29,940, the 2016 Ford Focus RS
offers a surprisingly affordable track performance car. To enhance the motorsport-style experience even further, you can add optional extras such as Recaro shell front seats, 19inch alloy wheels and a comprehensive ‘Luxury pack’. However, one of the most exciting new features in the 2016 Focus RS has to be the all-wheel drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control. Used in combination, they give the RS first-class grip and ultra-precise handling.
As the most aggressively powerful Ford RS model to-date, there’s no doubt that Ford have secured a dominating position in the UK hot hatch market for a long time to come.
All-New Ford GT
The all-new Ford GT caused a frenzy in 2015, and is the next big Ford release to be arriving in 2016. Although less than 20 Ford GT’s are planned to reach UK owners this year, most of us can still admire the exciting new supercar from a distance!
The 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 EcoBoost engine provides over 600bhp, with power delivery enhanced further with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Ford claims that the GT’s innovative carbon fibre and aluminium structure offers the best power-to-weight ratio of any other production car. Not only that, the Ford GT engine has more power and better fuel economy than the Ford 6.2 V8.
Having already made various motor show appearances, the Ford GT was more recently named the official vehicle of CES 2016
, and is set to compete in Le Mans 2016 against the likes of the Ferrari 488 GTB and McLaren 675LT. The GT's appearance in Le Mans 24 Hours marks 50 years since the original Ford GT won the race – no pressure!
As well as making waves in the hot hatch and supercar markets, Ford is releasing the all-new Ford Edge
SUV in the UK this year. The Ford Edge is available to order now, although first UK deliveries will be made in late 2016. Thanks to the new ‘One Ford’ policy rolled out globally, we can at last get behind the wheel of an American muscle SUV – in European spec, anyway. This will include, as standard:
• 2.0-litre TDCi Duratorq engine, producing 177bhp and 295lb ft. of torque
• 19inch alloy wheels and privacy glass
• Ford Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (iAWD), Ford SYNC 2 connectivity system and Active Noise Control
• Stop-start technology, with 48.7mpg and 149g/km CO2 output
• Six-speed manual gearbox
The all-new Edge is loaded with refined, innovative technology, such as Blind Spot Information System, hands-free tailgate and brand-new Adaptive Steering. Having gone down a storm as one of the best-selling cars in the US, it will be interesting to see how the 2016 Ford Edge fairs in the UK and how it competes with other SUV rivals.

Since its big reveal at the Frankfurt Motor Show back in September 2015, the Ford Ranger pickup will be available to buy as of Spring 2016. Having gained legendary status in the US, the 2016 European version is the first to sport a completely new facelift, alongside increased efficiency and active safety technology.
The 3.2-litre Duratorq five-cylinder diesel engine still produces 198bhp, but has been tweaked to cut fuel consumption by 18%. If you opt for the basic Ford Ranger model (128bhp 2.2-litre), fuel consumption has been cut even further by 22%. The efficiency is partly due to electric power steering system, standard start/stop and retuned suspension for smoother handling.
With its 3,500kg towing capacity, low-range gearbox and switchable four-wheel drive, the 2016 Ford Ranger seems to have been upgraded for the UK, while keeping all the iconic current features intact.

All-New Ford Focus Electric
Ford has big plans for going electric, with 13 electric cars being added to the range by 2020. One of their first big endeavours is the Ford Focus Electric, which will be seen on UK roads in late 2016. With orders opening soon, the 2016 Focus Electric offers tempting specifications if you’re looking for an economical family car.
• 107kW 140bhp electric motor
• DC fast-charging function to deliver 80% charge in 30 minutes
• 3.6 p/mile with no congestion charges
• 100 mile range
• 0-60mph in 11.4 seconds, with a top speed of 85mph
The 2016 Ford Focus Electric is one of the greenest cars available, and the low running costs also make it 100% worth the £26,145 price tag.
