Experts have praised the GT-R saying that pound-for-pound it is the best car you can buy. Keep reading to learn more about the GT-R’s record breaking performance and brilliant reviews and how you can now see one for yourself in the East Midlands.
A record-breaking supercar
In 2007, the Nissan GT-R announced its arrival by clocking the fastest lap at the Nürburgring by any production car. Then, in October 2012, the GT-R once again held a new Nürburgring lap time when broke its old record with a new time of 7:18. This made it the 9th fastest ever production car around the German circuit.
The supercar boasts a top speed of 196mph and accelerates from 0-60mph in under three seconds. It features dual clutch six-speed transmission and a 3.8 litre twin turbo V6 engine that produces 550bhp and is hand-assembled by a single Nissan engineer.
While the GT-R may be one of the fastest cars around, it’s also a great car for everyday use. What Car? praised the GT-R for its practicality, saying ‘a leather-trimmed dashboard and seats, cushy trim, high-quality plastics and enough room for four at a push, plus a decent-sized boot mean you can easily use your GT-R on a daily basis.’
Pound for pound - the Nissan GT-R is best car you can buy
Motoring writers have been fulsome in their praise for the brilliant GT-R. Writing in the Daily Mail, broadcaster Chris Evans compared the GT-R to one of the iconic sports cars of our time. Evans said: “Immediately, I knew I’d felt this sensation before, and I knew when and how. It was five years ago when I first drove a Ferrari F40.
“This car feels exactly like that, or at least the root of it does. The same noise; the same almost reckless power, desperate to be let off the leash; the same sound; the same scared-of-itself capability.”
The Radio 2 DJ awarded the GT-R his first ever ‘six star’ rating adding that “this car, pound for pound, blows every other car in the world clean out of the water.”
Autocar agreed, saying that the GT-R is ‘possibly the best value performance car ever’ while What Car? concluded that ‘in terms of metal-for-your-money the Nissan GT-R is hard to beat, and although tearing up Tarmac is what this seriously impressive piece of machinery does best, it's also a practical, everyday-supercar.’
The Nissan GT-R Nismo
You might have thought that Nissan had given everything they could when they launched the original Nissan GT-R in 2007, but you’d be very, very wrong. Nissan have recently released the very latest edition to the Nissan GT-R family, The GT-R Nismo.
Not only does the Nismo come with enhanced looks, styling and handling, Nissan have managed to get a significant amount of power out of their infamous 3.8 litre twin turbocharged petrol engine. With the changes made, the GT-R Nismo now generates 591 BHP as well as 481 ft lbs of torque. Armed with its 6 speed dual clutch, semi-automatic gearbox, the GT-R Nismo will do 0 – 62mph in just 2.7 seconds and go on to do a staggering top speed of 193 mph.
