Goodwood Festival of Speed is always an incredibly popular event within the automotive industry. Every year, the biggest names in the driving world come together to celebrate the thrill of high-speed driving. This year, Ford made a real splash at Goodwood and impressed the crowds with an incredible showcase of automotive performance.

Introducing several new vehicles and taking part in a range of events, Ford fans were treated to a spectacle of driving power. They were also introduced to the future of Ford driving in the form of several new electric vehicles. Read on to discover the highlights of Ford at Goodwood FOS 2022 and find inspiration for your next Ford car.

The future is electric

Ford used the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed to showcase its commitment to electrified driving. Earlier this year, the automotive giant announced that all of its European passenger vehicles will be all-electric or plug-in hybrid by mid-2026. This will allow all Ford owners to access zero-emission driving. They will then move to an all-electric passenger vehicle range by 2030.

At this year’s Goodwood FOS Ford rolled out the big guns and treated attendees to a look at the new Mustang Mach-E GT, Mustang Mach‑E 1400, Team Fordzilla P1 and the revolutionary Ford Pro Electric SuperVan that is inspired by the new E-Transit Custom. With so many incredible electrified vehicles on display, fans of Ford motoring were treated to a fantastic day of entertainment.

The Ford Pro Electric SuperVan made a particularly big impact on the crowds at Goodwood. This future-proof van was teased in a 22-second video clip in the lead-up to the festival. It became clear very quickly that 22-seconds was not long enough to truly experience this vehicle. Coming fifth in the famous Goodwood hill climb, the future of electrified Ford vans and commercial vehicles is here.

New Ford Ranger Raptor

Ford also took the opportunity to showcase the all-new Ranger Raptor. This new generation of Raptor is right at home among the other speed demons that made their way to Goodwood. With a 3.0-litre twin-turbo EcoBoost petrol V6 that produces 284bhp, the new Raptor is a real beast. With 74bhp more than the previous Raptor, this machine is built for speed.

Ford also showcased the ‘Very Gay Raptor’ at this year’s Goodwood Festival. This rainbow-coloured vehicle was at the festival to support Ford’s ‘Tough Talks’ series of discussions. Hosted by rugby icon Gareth Thomas, one of the world’s first openly gay players, the discussion covered just how the “automotive industry can foster a culture of inclusion and allyship with the LGBTQ+ community”.

Team Fordzilla P1 race car

Ford continued to provide excitement at Goodwood FOS by unveiling a full-sized replica of its innovative Team Fordzilla P1 virtual gaming race car. Dressed in all-new colours to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Ford’s famous Le Mans 24 Hours 1-2-3 victory. Designed with the help of gamers all over the world, its appearance at Goodwood was a highlight for many.

Amko Leenarts, director, Design, Ford of Europe explained that “to build cars that customers love, you first need to truly understand what customers want. We’ve taken that thinking to extremes with the Team Fordzilla P1 race car, and we’ve applied the same innovative approach to creating our Puma ST Gold Edition that customers will actually be able to order later this year.“

Leenarts went on to say that “it’s exactly this kind of human-centred design that’s going to take us to a whole new level of fun-to-drive in the electrified era,” demonstrating just how committed Ford is to entering the future of driving with a range of new electric vehicles.
