Sandicliffe Charged With Enthusiasm

Monday 24th September 2007

It seemed that not even a flat battery could halt Sandicliffe Motor Group’s Gary Meads in his efforts against the most challenging of days. The service manager from Newark was hailed the second Quarter’s ‘Sandicliffe Customer Champion’ in the customer service award recently introduced by the family-run motor retail group.

Stiff competition came from dozens of other team members within the company but it was his fortitude which highlighted him for the award. A flat car battery would have left an elderly customer’s car immobile if it were not for Gary. He managed to haul the car out of the garage to change the battery and then push it back again; all whilst overcoming a difficult incline. Furthermore, Gary then helped the ailing patron get dressed for an appointment, (and locating their glasses) only to charge nothing for the entire service - including the battery change!

The Customer Champion Award is a major customer service initiative to celebrate members of staff who have gone the extra mile in delivering an outstanding level of service for Sandicliffe customers. Managers and team mates are asked to nominate colleagues who are the most deserving of recognition, helping to applaud and energise team morale.

The awards span three categories; sales, after sales and non-customer facing, where winners are selected on a monthly basis, with the overall winner being selected from all entries every quarter.

Reg Tutt, Managing Director of Sandicliffe Motors, said; ‘Sandicliffe as a business has a reputation for strong customer service and this new incentive celebrates those employees who focus on this, across all areas of our business.”

Sandicliffe Motor Group is one of the country’s largest Ford retailers, now with a total of 9 dealerships in the East Midlands plus Mazda, Suzuki, Kia, Fiat, Chevrolet and servicing MG Rovers.
