About Us

Sandicliffe Garage Limited was founded in 1948 by Mr. J R Woodhouse and Mr. T H Barton as a service station on Nottingham Road, Stapleford. The Company became Ford Retail Dealers in 1953 and then by 1955, Ford Car and Commercial Vehicle Distributorships were appointed. Things progressed steadily whereby in 1974, the honour of a Royal Warrant of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was granted to the Stapleford Dealership - a rare event in the motor industry. More recently, Sandicliffe has expanded into one of the country's largest privately owned family motor groups with over 600 employees operating from twelve sites located throughout the East Midlands. The company now offers a complete range of motoring services including New and Used Cars and Commercials, Parts, Service, Accident Repair, Fleet, Contract Hire and Rental, and in addition to the Ford oval, holds new vehicle franchises for Mazda, Fiat, Kia, Suzuki, and Chevrolet.

Environment

As Sandicliffe carefully grows, it also recognises the importance of its environmental responsibilities, monitors its impact on the environment, and designs and implements policies to mitigate any adverse impact that might be caused by its activities. Working with the Carbon Trust and other leading bodies on energy and environmental issues, initiatives aimed at minimising the Company’s impact on the environment include reducing and recycling waste, reducing energy consumption and promoting energy and environmental issues. Indeed, Sandicliffe was the first motor group in the UK to plant a tree in the East Midlands for every vehicle sold.

Awards

Sandicliffe achieved its ISO 9001 2000 accreditation through the British Standards Institute and has been recognised as one of the best companies to work for through the "Investor in People" award. The company has also won the Ford "Chairman's Award" for giving excellent customer service for the last five years running plus in 2007, Sandicliffe won the UK's Best Large Retail Group at the prestigious AM Awards (The Oscars of the Motor Industry). This year, the group went on to win a further three AM awards in February and these were for Best Customer Care Programme, Best Environmental Programme and Best Marketing Programme for the third year running.
